Cambodia and Belarus have agreed to undertake collaboration in
defence technologies, a move that is indicative of the Southeast Asian
country's efforts to expand links with potential military suppliers.
A statement by the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence (MND) on 7
July said that the accord with Belarus will cover military-technical
co-operation, activity geared primarily towards providing support for
Soviet-era materiel in Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) inventories.
The MND said the Cambodia-Belarus agreement could expand into further
areas of defence industrial co-operation in the future, but did not
elaborate. This is a likely reference to potential collaboration related
to any future sales of Belarus-made equipment, such as ammunition and
small arm
